The Open is Over, Now What?

The CrossFit Open and our CrossFit Pegasus Intramural Open have officially wrapped up! Whether this was your first Open or your fifth, you likely walked away with some major wins—and maybe a few areas where you know you can improve. Now is the time to take that momentum and turn it into real progress.

Reflect, Reset, and Refocus

The Open is a fantastic test of fitness. It exposes our strengths, highlights our weaknesses, and pushes us beyond what we thought we could do. Did you struggle with a heavy barbell? Were gymnastics movements a limiting factor? Maybe your engine gave out before the finish line. Whatever the case, this is your opportunity to turn those challenges into strengths.

Instead of seeing weaknesses as setbacks, view them as growth opportunities. The athletes who improve year after year are the ones who take an honest look at their performance and commit to putting in the work. The Open isn’t just a competition—it’s a blueprint for your training over the next 12 months.

How to Improve Before Next Year

1. Set Clear Goals – Identify specific areas you want to improve, whether it’s strength, gymnastics, endurance, or all of the above.
2. Dial in Your Training – It’s easy to avoid things we aren’t good at, but real progress comes from tackling those weaknesses head-on. Prioritize skill work, strength cycles, or extra conditioning sessions.
3. Focus on Fundamentals – Solid movement mechanics and consistency in training will carry over to better performance in next year’s Open.
4. Work One-on-One with a Coach – Personalized coaching is one of the fastest ways to see real improvement. A coach can help you develop a targeted plan to crush your weak points and refine your strengths.
5. Stay Consistent – Progress doesn’t happen overnight. Commit to steady, intentional work, and you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish in a year.
